Fredrik Axsater

FREDRIK AXSATER, CFA is head of global defined contribution for State Street Global Advisors. In this role, he is responsible for advancing SSGA’s global defined contribution business, including product development, distribution, pricing, client service, operations and marketing infrastructure. He works closely with global teams to build out competitive defined contribution offerings tailored to meet regional and country-specific requirements. Prior to joining SSGA, he was a managing director and head of investment strategy and product management for Blackrock’s DC business. He started working within defined contribution in 1996, and has deep investment knowledge, with a particular expertise in target date and retirement income solutions, as well as best-practice DC plan architecture. Prior to focusing on DC strategy, he spent ten years in multiple portfolio management roles, across both defined contribution and global macro strategies, including holding the position of chief of staff of BGI’s global market strategies group. For many years he has also worked with the CFA Institute as a topic area coordinator within portfolio management, to help evolve the CFA curriculum. Axsater earned a B.S./B.A. in electrical engineering from the University of San Diego, an M.B.A. from the University of Illinois and also earned the Chartered Financial Analyst designation. @statestreet
