JC Monahan
J.C. Monahan is co-anchor of WCVB-TV’s “NewsCenter 5 at 5:00,” as well as co-anchor of Channel 5’s award-winning nightly news magazine “Chronicle” alongside co-anchor Anthony Everett. Monahan joined the long-running program in May 2013. She was previously the meteorologist for the weekday editions of “The EyeOpener” and “Midday” newscasts. Monahan joined WCVB-TV Channel 5 as a staff meteorologist in September 2001. During her years as a meteorologist, she had appeared on ABC’s “Good Morning America” as a guest meteorologist. Monahan was also the creator and host of the weekly talk show “Boston’s View.” After the inception of “Boston’s View” in 2009, Monahan has interviewed such notable personalities as comedians Dane Cook and Lenny Clarke, actress Jane Seymour, Aerosmith drummer Joey Kramer and sports stars Cam Neely and Jerry Remy.
Previously, Monahan served as the weekend meteorologist for New England Cable News (NECN), a regional cable network. Prior to joining NECN, Monahan worked as the weekend forecaster and entertainment reporter for WPXT-TV in Portland, Maine. Early in her career, she was the news director for WZON-AM in Bangor, Maine, where she earned awards from the Associated Press and Maine Association of Broadcasters for Best Radio Newscast and Best Series Reporting.
Monahan is a member of the National Weather Association and the American Meteorological Society. In 2004, Monahan was awarded the American Meteorological Society Seal of Approval in recognition of her professionalism in weather forecasting and reporting. After earning a B.S. in broadcast journalism from the University of Maine, Monahan graduated from Mississippi State University’s Broadcast Meteorology Program. @jcmonahan
