Jeffery Whitford

JEFFERY WHITFORD joined Sigma-Aldrich in 2005, and since that time has served in a variety of positions including the company’s first-ever head of global citizenship. After the acquisition of Sigma-Aldrich by Merck KGaA, Darmstadt, Germany in 2015 he was named head of corporate responsibility for the life science business and added responsibility for branding in 2017. He is now also serving as the head of internal communications for the healthcare business of Merck KGaA, Darmstadt, Germany.  In his role, Whitford is responsible for developing and implementing strategic programs designed to enhance MilliporeSigma’s position as a global leader in green chemistry, product recycling, environmental sustainability and social responsibility while also positioning the company and its products to external stakeholders. He also directs the company’s largest corporate responsibility initiative, SPARK. Whitford earned a BA in journalism and strategic communications from the University of Missouri-Columbia, and an MA in business administration at Washington University in St. Louis.
