Kara Cohen
Kara Cohen is the community service director for AARP Massachusetts. AARP has over 37 million members nationwide, including more than 800,000 in Massachusetts. Almost 2000 people serve as volunteers in the state’s Money Management Program, the AARP Tax-Aide Program and AARP Driver Safety, and across the state there are 16 AARP Chapters. Cohen supports the work of these volunteers and chapters and manages partnerships with local organizations and develops volunteer engagement opportunities based on local interests and needs. She also does outreach work and recruits volunteers to help in educating consumers on health and retirement security. AARP is a nonprofit, nonpartisan organization that helps people 50+ have independence, choice and control in ways that are beneficial and affordable to them and society as a whole. AARP has offices in all 50 states, the District of Columbia, Puerto Rico and the U.S. Virgin Islands. Cohen holds a master’s in higher education from the University of Massachusetts/Amherst and a bachelor’s in education from the University of Vermont.
