Karen Anderson
KAREN ANDERSON is an award-winning journalist and member of WCVB’s 5 Investigates, the station’s enterprising and in-depth investigative unit. Her focus is covering political stories in the region, as well as breaking news for NewsCenter 5. Anderson joined the station in 2014, and has worked as an investigative, political and general assignment reporter for more than twenty years. She has covered terrorism, including the Boston Marathon Bombing, the opioid crisis, the deadly nationwide meningitis outbreak caused by the New England Compounding Center, MBTA winter storm meltdown of 2015 and the financial collapse of the Boston Grand Prix INDYCAR race planned for downtown Boston. Anderson covered the search for the killer of a toddler known as “Baby Doe,” and received a 2016 Boston/New England Emmy award, along with 5 Investigates reporter Kathy Curran, for coverage of the case. She has interviewed every major presidential candidate from 2000 to 2012, covered notorious Boston gangster Whitey Bulger’s arrest, the State Drug Lab scandal, and championships of the Patriots, Red Sox and Bruins. Prior to WCVB, Anderson worked at WBZ-TV in Boston, WMUR-TV in Manchester, NH, and KTXS News in Abilene, TX. Anderson graduated from Brown University, where she earned a BA in history. @karenreports
