Katie Thompson

KATIE THOMPSON is a general assignment reporter who joined WCVB in February of 2017.  She is a New England native who was born and raised in Kennebunk, Maine. Thompson started her career in Boston nearly a decade ago as a production assistant, and is proud to work in a city she calls her second home. You can find her up before the sunrise weekdays on New England’s Eyeopener. Thompson comes to WCVB from sister station WMTW in Portland, Maine. While in Portland, she covered everything from Maine politics, to a series on the sustainability of a shrinking Moose population. She was also lucky enough to cover the 2013 Red Sox World Series, and two Patriots Super Bowl victories. Prior to Portland, she spent two years in Abilene, Texas working for KRBC-TV as a reporter, producer and weekday 5pm anchor. Thompson is a graduate of Hofstra University in Long Island, where she studied broadcast journalism. @kthompson_wcvb
